Poteau - A Le Flore County man remains at large after murder charges were filed against him in connection with the Christmas Eve shooting of his mother and stepfather.
Le Flore County officials say Clyde Dewayne Chavers shot his mother Charlene McLaughlin and his stepfather Watson McLaughlin with a 20-gauge shotgun.
Charlene McLaughlin was found in her house and Watson McLaughlin's body was found outside. The family's pickup truck was also reported missing.
Police say a dispute may have erupted after Charlene McLaughlin refused to let her son use the family truck to travel to Oklahoma City.
Chavers had lived with his mother and stepfather since his release three weeks ago from Eastern State Hospital.
