WASHINGTON (AP) _ A Texas company is recalling about 211,000 sets of small candles, called tea lights, because they can flare up and melt their plastic holders.
Home Interiors and Gifts Inc. of Carrollton, Texas, received almost two dozen reports of candles flaring up, which resulted in minor property damage but no injuries, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.
As well, S.I.T. Inc. of Quincy, Mass., is recalling about 80,000 plastic stack chairs because they can collapse. The company is aware of two incidents of chairs breaking, though no injuries have been reported.
The red or white candles come in clear plastic holders and were sold in packs of 12 from September to November for about $5. Consumers are advised to stop using the lights and, for refund information, call the company at 1-800-749-4545, weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST.
The green or white chairs were sold at drug stores nationwide from April 2000 to September 2002 for $4 to $6. UPC numbers 0-82294-319754 or 0-82294-319785 are located on a label on the front. Consumers are advised to stop using the chairs and contact the company for a refund at 1-800-611-4664, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
