Tulsa Fire Department investigators believe an arsonist is back at work. Three more vehicles were set on fire Wednesday night, and two others earlier this week.
They believe the same person torched eleven vehicles in one week back in September. Investigators say there's no question that these are all arson, and that the same pattern is taking place.
Fire officials say they don't know where this arsonist will strike again, but say there will be more fires, and more victims. Tulsa Fire Department Captain Hubert Rouse, “We're afraid it's going to get worse than what it is. Obviously it's pretty daring. Our investigators feel like it's the same person that's setting these fires, so he's liable to get a little bit more daring, and we're concerned about that."
Arsonists destroy nearly 50,000 vehicles nationwide, every year, each with a huge cost to the victim. Investigators estimate damage from this latest spree at about $45,000.
If you have information that could help bring the arsonist to justice, call the Arrest Arson hotline. The number is 596-2776. Your information could get you a cash reward.
