(Space Station Alpha-AP) -- Astronauts are set for another spacewalk later today to finish attaching a 390 million-dollar girder to the international space station.
Oklahoma native John Herrington, who is the first American Indian in space, and Michael Lopez-Alegria are putting the girder in place.
In all, it will take three spacewalks to finish the job.
This third girder stretches the station to 134 feet long. When all eight are in place next year, the outpost will be as long as a football field and have giant solar wings.
Herrington and Lopez-Alegria will drive bolts to secure the girder, then hook up electrical cables and install clamps to relieve pressure on some air-conditioning lines.
