(Tallahassee, Florida-AP) -- Florida State has kicked quarterback Adrian McPherson off the team.

School officials say he violated a team policy, but they've given no further detail.

The 19-year-old sophomore had replaced Chris Rix following a loss to Notre Dame in October. The 23rd-ranked Seminoles were 3-and-1 with him as the starter.

Rix will start Saturday against Florida.

McPherson was 80-of-155 for one-thousand-17 yards, 12 touchdowns and one interception in nine games this season.
