The school shooting is raising questions about school security and how guards are trained.

Tulsa Public Schools just changed its policy on security guards. Pinkerton Burns Security is a private company that's been hired to make sure all guards meet license requirements. Before then, each school provided its own security guards.

John Hamill, TPS spokesperson: "This year to provide a uniformity of service and to guarantee a high quality of service to meet certain certification measures we have a contract with Burn to provide security at all Tulsa Public Schools sites including the education service center."

Hamill says to be a licensed security guard you have to go through at least 40 hours of training. Armed security guards have to go through another 32 hours of gun training. And the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the FBI check everyone out.

School security guards here also receive training in dealing with adolescents and upset parents.
