A South Tulsa jewelry store was robbed Thursday, in an unusual way, and an off-duty highway patrolman was injured in the process.

A male suspect walked into a Moody's store at 51st and Harvard little after noon wanting to look at rings. As the clerk was showing him a ring, police say he took off with it.

An off-duty highway patrol trooper working security at the store, chased the suspect, but couldn't catch them. Tulsa Police officer, Sgt Kirk Hewitt, "The suspect jumped into a waiting vehicle with a woman waiting inside. When they took off out of the parking lot, they struck the trooper he went over the hood of the car."

The trooper wasn't seriously injured. Witnesses said the pair took off in a 1990's model red Mazda Protégé.

If you think you’ve seen them, call Crimestoppers at 596-COPS.
