One person is dead after an early morning accident on a Tulsa highway. It happened just before six Wednesday morning on I-44 in Catoosa.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the driver of a U-Haul had pulled over to the side of the highway to look at a map. When he got back on the road, he changed too many lanes.

The driver of a car, Alonso Perez, and semi-truck had little time to react. OHP trooper Jack Choate, “they come over the hillcrest, they see this large U-Haul Truck changing lanes directly in front of them and uh the car was smashed between the two.”

Perez was killed. The semi-truck driver and his wife are in good condition at St Francis Hospital.

The driver of the U-Haul is from Wisconsin. He is in the Rogers County jail on a complaint of negligent homicide.
