(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The Oklahoma City school board will cut nearly ten (m) million dollars from its budget, but says it won't close any schools.
School officials were studying the possibility of closing some schools as early as January, but board Chairman Cliff Hudson says no schools will be closed during the year.
The schools studied for closing are already scheduled to be closed as part of a ten-year rebuilding plan.
Budget cuts approved by the board include a salary freeze for most employees except teachers, reassigning teachers and leaving some positions vacant.
The district is trying to cut 14 million dollars from its budget because of a shortfall in state revenue.
