WASHINGTON (AP) _ W.C. Wood Co. is recalling about 2,500 dehumidifiers because metal parts can wear away internal wiring, presenting a risk of electric shock to consumers if the insulation wears through.
The Ottawa, Ohio, company has not received any reports of incidents, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
The 40-pint dehumidifiers had ``Wood's'' or ``Edison'' printed across the control panel. The Wood's model WMD40W is cased in white plastic; the Edison model EMD40 is in beige plastic.
Independent retailers sold the dehumidifiers nationwide from March through June 2002.
Consumers can arrange for a free repair by calling W.C. Wood at 1-800-826-8578.
