CRASH court convened in Union Intermediate High School Tuesday morning.

"CRASH" stands for Courts Raising Awareness of Students in High School. It's a prevention program aimed at teaching young people the dangers of drugs and alcohol by sentencing criminal offenders in a real court at school.

Tulsa County District Judge Kyle Haskins told Union students how jailers found drugs on one teen the very day he appeared in crash court. "Ladies and gentlemen, to take drugs without or 1000 feet within a school is a felony. After a first driving related alcohol offense that cost the life of his best friend, he's looking at ten years in prison for having taken drugs into school to participate in this program."

CRASH court is presented by the Tulsa County District Court with help from the Community Service Council and Oklahoma Highway Safety Office.
