The jury hearing the trial of a teenage boy accused of assaulting a fellow Webster High student with a broom watched the videotaped statement the boy gave to police last fall.

The boy's grandfather and mother were in the room during the interrogation, but, they didn't realize it was being videotaped.

The 16-year-old suspect originally told police he wasn't holding the broom or standing behind the victim when he said he was assaulted.

Once the detective left the room, the mother and grandfather urged the boy to tell the truth.

Then later he did admit holding the broom and standing behind the victim, but, insisted, no sexual assault occurred.

The prosecution will wrap up soon and then the defense will begin its case.
