The candidates in the race for Oklahoma Governor took center stage in Tulsa. All three candidates - Democrat Brad Henry and Republican Steve Largent took part in the debate at the University Of Tulsa last night.
During the hour-long forum, the candidates answered questions about energy, the environment and economic development.
They also answered a wide range of questions from the audience - and each other.
Richardson told the crowd he's a non-partisan voice who will get work done.
Gary Richardson, (I) Gubernatorial Candidate: "A fellow the other day said I'm a Democrat. I said get over it. I got over being a Republican. Why? For the future of this State. For the future of our children and our grandchildren. What's more important to us? Politics - or the future of our State?"
Former Congressman Steve Largent says he's the candidate to create a positive environment for job growth.
Steve Largent, (R) Gubernatorial Candidate "I can tell you, as an Oklahoman born and raised and also by choice, who chose to bring my family back here. We cannot afford to sustain the status quo any longer. We have to change direction."
And Brad Henry says he will be a supporter of education... and touted his record in the state legislature.
Brad Henry, (D) Governor Candidate: "We're not going to solve all our problems by electing an independent, a republican or a democrat. We need to elect a leader. We need to elect someone who is more interested in Oklahoma... in building this great state. That's what I've been fighting for ten years."
And a reminder that the candidates for governor will participate in a debate here on Channel Six.
It's set for October 29th from 8 until 9 in the evening. The general election is less than a month away.
