Tulsa County health officials report an outbreak of shigellosis. There have been 131-cases so far this year. There were just nine cases for all of last year.

Shigellosis is an intestinal infection. Anyone can get it. But it's most common in young children. Shigellosis is passed through stool and is spread by poor hygiene. Symptoms include diarrhea and fever.

The health department says proper hand washing can help stop the spread of shigellosis. They also say parents should keep an eye on children with loose stool.
