Oklahomans are pitching in to help the folks affected by tropical storm Isidore.

Red Cross volunteer Steve Whitehead is among them. The folks in Washington DC called on him to help out.

Steve is part of a Disaster Welfare Inquiry team that helps reunite families who have been separated because of the disaster. "Phone lines or communication lines are down for one reason or another. Persons are calling from across the nation asking for where their relatives are and our job is to try to reconnect."

Steve left Wednesday morning, and so did the Tulsa's Red Cross Em-Trac. It's a tractor-trailer equipped with phones, computers and a satellite dish to speed assistance to disaster victims.
