The Catholic Diocese of Tulsa has a new policy aimed at protecting children.

Workers and volunteers who work with children are now required to pass background checks.

Diocesan officials say they'll offer training designed to recognize the possible signs of abuse, and how to help abused children.

The policy comes after three priests have been publicly accused of having inappropriate contact with children earlier this year.
