Oklahoma National Guard recruiters say a surge in patriotism since the September 11th attacks has membership exceeding past expectations.

The state's Army National Guard anticipated 300 new recruits over the past year and got 1,400.

Officials at the Oklahoma Air National Guard won't release numbers but say its also passing expectations.
