The Oklahoma Department of Tourism says closed showers and port-a-potties are running off visitors to state parks.
Deteriorating sewer lagoons forced officials to close down showers and restrooms at three campgrounds, including those at Sequoyah State Park near Wagoner. And several other parks are also facing problems.
Now the department wants the legislature to pony up more than $11-million to fix up the parks. Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin says the tourism department is down $173,000 from last year.
