(Seminole-AP) -- Seminole's mayor and several council members say they'll allow a recall election in November that seeks their jobs even though the city attorney has doubts about the petition.

(Seminole-AP) -- Seminole's mayor and several council members say they'll allow a recall election in November that seeks their jobs even though the city attorney has doubts about the petition.

Mayor Connie Colwell says that's the only way to get Seminole past an ongoing controversy about reductions in the city's fire department. Earlier this year the council reduced Seminole's number of paid firefighters from 14 to eight.

Critics say the job cuts were political. They say they're also upset about Seminole officials' plans to annex a strip of land near Interstate 40.
