A Broken Arrow family is lucky to be alive when fire sweeps through their home.

The fire broke out in their trailer home around four-fifteen Friday morning. By the time firefighters arrived, the home was a total loss.

Two adults and two kids were asleep when the fire broke out. Fire victim, Lanore Aguilar, “he smelled the smoke and couldn't breathe so that was a good thing, I had to beat on the front window, break the window out to get my nephew out.” Fire victim, John Aguilar, “the smoke woke me up as soon as I opened the door it just got, it was real thick. I grabbed a blanket and I threw it over me and I unlatched the back door and we went out the back door and I saw the flames coming out of the side of the house.”

Two people were treated at the scene for cuts from broken glass. The family had no insurance. The Red Cross was called in to help them.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
