(Tulsa-AP) -- Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Williams Companies is laying off about 100 employees from its marketing and trading unit.

Most of the layoffs are in Tulsa. Three workers were given pink slips in Williams' Houston office.

The company warned employees earlier this month that job cuts were coming.

Williams has now cut nearly 300 jobs from its trading unit in recent weeks and company spokeswoman Paula Hall-Collins says more job cuts are expected in the next few weeks.

Officials say credit downgrades, allegations of trading improprieties and the collapse of Enron Corporation have prevented the trading unit from generating new business.
