Major changes could be in store for one of Green Country's most attractive lakes.
It involves a $10-million development plan. It could get built at Skiatook Lake. Under a federal program, a private Tulsa based company would lease property from the Army Corps of Engineers.
The company would then build an 18-hole golf course, cabins, a conference center, marina and camping areas. Turley resident, David Lewis, "It would be good to Tulsa to have a lake similar to Grand, but a whole lot closer."
Project developer, Ron Howell, "It's really not along a major traveled road. There's no advertising. The Corps doesn't advertise the lake; the tourism department has no facilities here. So the lake really, since it was built in the 1980's, has been undiscovered even by Tulsans."
A public comment period on the project ends Wednesday. If the plan is given the go ahead, construction could begin next year.
