Construction is going on in Jenks on what is sure to be one of the states biggest tourist attractions, the Oklahoma Aquarium.
The Aquarium was tentatively scheduled to open on Labor Day. But, recent rains and construction delays are pushing back the grand opening. Aquarium director, Doug Kemper, “We're so excited about the aquarium. We want it open tomorrow. So we said gosh we can get it built in 15 months and if um things go perfectly we can make that deadline. Well unfortunately it's not a perfect world."
Kemper says they will meet with the contractors this week and try to determine when the aquarium might be open. The 70,000 square foot aquarium will be the largest collection in the middle of the country.
It's expected to draw a half a million visitors a year.
