For the second time this year, the City of Tulsa is under a heat alert. Tulsans are urged to stay inside, drink lots of water and check on the elderly and those without air conditioning.
If you don't have air conditioning, health officials say you can go to the Salvation Army Center, at 102 North Denver, in downtown Tulsa. The heat alert was issued after the temperature rose to 96-degrees. That’s when medical staff saw an increase in heat-related ailments.
Athletes, outdoor workers, the elderly and those who spend a lot of time outside are at an increased risk of heat exposure.
