WASHINGTON (AP) _ A Bridgeport, Conn., company is recalling some 3,000 hairdryers because they are missing a plug that cuts off electrical current when they touch water.

The recall involves the 1,600-watt Remington Vortex Ultra hairdryers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday.

Remington Products Co., LLC, first recalled the hairdryers in March 2001. The company was announcing the recall again even though it had not received reports of any electrocutions from the hairdryers.

Kmart, Sears, Target and other retailers sold the hairdryers nationwide from July 2000 to January 2001.

The model V-1030 hairdryers have a 0-74590-87541-6 UPC number. They have a chrome body and black heat and speed controls. The words ``Remington Vortex Ultra'' are printed on one side and ``Do Not Immerse In Water'' and ``Made in China'' are on the other.
