There's a new President for Tulsa's NAACP. Pleas Thompson takes over the job from Reverend Melvin Easley who resigned.
Thompson served as second vice president of the organization, and before that he was a US Postal Service manager for 33 years. Thompson says he hopes to create a more positive and visible presence for the Tulsa chapter. "What I hope to accomplish in the time I have is to be a calming effect on the organization. There's been a little turmoil in the past and I'm really just trying to heal a lot of wounds - bring peace to the organization and sort of put it's best foot forward."
Thompson will serve as NAACP president until the organization's November elections.
