Finally, some help to get over the "Orange Barrel Blues."
If you ever get frustrated with road construction in Tulsa... there is some good news.
The City Council has given unanimous approval to a plan to speed things up.
A street maintenance committee was formed six weeks ago to look into ways of improving quality and speed on street projects.
It came up with 20 recommendations for the city to follow.
They include:
Expanding construction hours to take advantage of daylight
Eliminating simultaneous work on adjacent roads
Holding progress meetings to improve coordination on projects
Mayor Bill LaFortune, Tulsa: "Too many orange barrels, too much inconvenience, lack of coordination, taking too long on a project, all of those issues are resolved by these recommendations. Now we have to just go and implement them."
Mayor LaFortune also says he'll begin work immediately to implement the measures.
