Today has been declared an Ozone Alert day. It's the second day in a row this week, and the fourth day this year, that the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality has issued such a warning.

Tulsa officials are encouraging residents to gas up their vehicles in the evening and to refrain from mowing their lawns with gas-powered mowers.

Motorists also are asked to catch a bus instead of commuting to work. The ride is free on Ozone Alert days.

There are an average of 12 ozone alert days a year in Oklahoma. Most happen between July 1st and September 14th.
