A police chase in Tulsa ends a spectacular accident early Friday morning.

It all started in East Tulsa when a car was reported stolen from a motel at 11th and Garnett. Officers spotted the car a short time later and stopped the driver.

As officers gave the driver orders, he took off. When he tried to get off I-244 at Garnett, he brushed another vehicle, hit the bridge and went down the embankment. Tulsa Police Corporal Tom Ford, “He was going too high of a speed to be able to make the turn drove through the guardrail of I-244 dropped back down on to the expressway from Admiral.”

The car caught fire, but the driver managed to run off on foot. Canine units captured him a few minutes later. The suspect's name hasn't been released and he wasn't seriously hurt.

Charges are pending.
