(Stillwater-AP) -- Oklahoma State has picked a former Sooner Big 12 Player of the Year for its director of womens basketball operations.
Phylesha Whaley comes to the Cowgirls after two seasons as an assistant coach at Texas-San Antonio.
Whaley earned first-team All-Big 12 honors three times at Oklahoma. She was named the conference's top player in 2000 when the Sooners went 25-and-8.
Whaley was OU's leading scorer each of her four seasons and the top rebounder three years. She was the Sooners' first Kodak All-America candidate and OU's first ever WNBA draft pick. Whaley is from Slaton Texas.
