Several dozen people have rallied on the steps of the Muskogee federal courthouse to show support for the pledge of allegiance.

Monday night's rally included reciting of the pledge, patriotic songs and remarks by lawmakers. Many who attended brought their children and grandchildren. Federal judges in California ruled the pledge is unconstitutional.

Several people in attendance Monday night say they hope their concerns are heard in Washington DC. Pam White, pledge supporter "I think it's making people more aware that things can happen and we need to stand up for what is right." David Henderson, pledge supporter "It's important to teach kids to believe in God. God is what got this country where it is at today. If we take him away from that, there's now telling where we may end up."

A federal appeals court judge who signed the majority opinion says the court was wrong to put the decision on hold.
