A historic Tulsa neighborhood is getting national recognition. The Yorktown district has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.
A state historian says the Yorktown district reflects the growth of Tulsa's middle class during the 1920s. Jim Gabbert of the State Historic Preservation office says the Yorktown district is different than the nearby Gillette and Swan Lake neighborhoods because its different sizes and styles of homes that were both exclusive and affordable.
