NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Law officers searched for the parents of an infant girl who was brought into a Norman hospital with a head injury doctors say is suspicious.

Carrie J. Busenbark came into the emergency room at Norman Regional Hospital with her 3-month-old child Tuesday afternoon, telling medical staff that she had fallen off a sofa while in the care of a baby sitter, police Capt. Steve Schultz said.

Busenbark, 24, said she had to leave to pick up her 5-year-old child, Triston Hudson, at daycare and that she would return. But she never did, Schultz said Wednesday.

The baby was transferred to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City in critical condition Tuesday night, Schultz said. Doctors say her injury isn't consistent with a fall from a sofa.

``We've been told she's suffering from significant head trauma,'' he said.

Investigators said Busenbark's boyfriend, James T. Hudson, is the baby's biological father and was caring for her when she was hurt. Hudson, 27, is wanted on an outstanding warrant out of McKinney, Texas, for injury to a child, said authorities, who are concerned for the welfare of the 5-year-old.

``We think the couple has left the area,'' Schultz said. ``It doesn't look like they packed up much of anything, but we have been unable to locate them.''

A neighbor of the couple told officers that Busenbark and Hudson had come to her on Tuesday, concerned about the baby, Schultz said.

The neighbor said Busenbark told her that Hudson said the baby fell off the couch while he was changing her diaper. The neighbor said the infant's face was beginning to bruise, and she told them to take her to the hospital, Schultz said.

The pair could be headed for Texas with the 5-year-old in a white, early 90s model Mitsubishi Eclipse with dark-tinted windows, authorities said. The car with Texas tags has damage to a passenger door, police said.

Busenbark has brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5-foot-8 and weighing about 260 pounds. Hudson has brown eyes and brown hair, stands 6-foot-1 and weighs about 215 pounds.
