OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals on Tuesday stayed the execution of David Jay Brown, who was scheduled to die at 6 p.m. for the 1988 murder of his former father-in-law.
The appellate court handed down the order shortly before noon, said Charlie Price, spokesman for Attorney General Drew Edmondson. Price said he had not yet read the order and did not know why the court canceled the execution.
