An elderly Tulsa woman found severely beaten over the weekend has died.

74-year-old Ruth Offutt died Tuesday morning after someone beat her viciously and left her for dead in north Tulsa Sunday evening. A neighbor found Offutt at an abandoned gas station at 11 North Victor.

A nephew by marriage had been staying with Offutt recently until he could get back on his feet. He says the last time he saw her was Sunday morning, and didn’t know she’d been attacked until Tulsa Police came to her home that night. Sonny Iovino, "I felt guilty because she'd dropped me off at a park the morning of June 16th, Father's day, because that's where I hang out. And, I bet she came back to pick me up, but, I'd already left and gone to 11th street, to the Corner Cafe to get something to eat."

Before the attack, witnesses saw Offutt at the Quik Trip at Admiral and Utica. She was with a white man who had a tattoo down his right forearm. Officers want to talk with the man as part of their investigation.

Offutt leaves behind a son, daughter-in-law and grandson.
