A convicted killer didn't take his punishment quietly Monday.
A Tulsa County District Court judge sentenced Victor Miller to death Monday for the murder of Gerald Thurman. When she asked Miller if he understood, he replied, "I understand you railroaded me and found me guilty of a crime I did not commit. I understand you want to kill somebody." After a few words from his attorney, Miller was quiet, but then, bowed to the TV cameras as he left court, saying he wanted to thank his fans, his parents and God.
The victims' families say they just want it over with. Thurman's sister, Dianne Moseby, "The saddest part is not just the loss of someone we dearly loved, but the sentence won't be carried out in a timely manner like we'd like to expect."
Miller's execution date is July 19th, but will be postponed by years of appeals. Even if he wins his appeal, Miller would have to serve a life without parole sentence for the murder of Mary Bowles.
