(Billings, Montana-AP) -- An Oklahoma man is dead after his pickup truck was hit by a train near Billings, Montana.

The Montana Highway Patrol says Phillip Smith of Muskogee was killed when his truck hit the side of the train's lead engine yesterday. Smith was thrown from the truck and died at the scene.

Authorities say Smith had been living in the Billings area for about one month.
