Wednesday was the first ever ‘Commute Another Way’ day. People who worked in the downtown Tulsa area were encouraged to find an alternative way to work.
Some suggestions were to ride a bike, take the bus, or even stay at home and telecommute. It was an effort to help ease traffic congestion and improve the air quality in Tulsa. Commuter choice coordinator, Rachel Firmansjah, "This year is a key year to keep us off the EPA clean, I mean dirty-air list. And right now we are on the clean air list but if we have another exceedence, that could put us on the dirty-air list, and that's going to hit you right in your pocketbook."
If we are put on the list, gas prices could go up.
