(Webbers Falls-AP) -- Demolition work continues at a quick pace in Webbers Falls as crews remove huge chunks of the damaged Interstate 40 bridge.
State Transportation Department chief engineer Bruce Taylor calls it ``an unbelievable challenge.''
The Transportation Department let reporters and photographers roam the work site for a brief time yesterday to give a look at the progress being made.
The challenge has been to strip down and remove hundreds of tons of bridgeworks in a few weeks.
The deadline is Wednesday, when the state hopes to hire a construction form to rebuild the missing roadway.
Authorities say the I-40 bridge could be repaired within 65 days and reopened by mid-August.
