(Nowata-AP) -- Three city leaders from Nowata say they didn't violate Oklahoma's Open Meeting Act.
Mayor Fred Maddox and city commissioners John Krouse Junior and Willard Carey were charged Monday. They pleaded innocent Tuesday and were released on their own recognizance.
If they're convicted, each faces a 500-dollar fine and a year in county jail, or both.
Their attorney, Bill Maddux, calls it a witch hunt. The three are scheduled to return to court in September.
