For the first time, we're getting to hear what it must have been like just after the barge hit the I-40 bridge.
911 tapes recorded at the height of the emergency have been released. "A barge hit the I-40 bridge and there's trucks and cars, everything off of it." “Just received a call. I-40 east of Webbers Falls, a barge has hit the I-40 bridge. The I-40 bridge is gone now. I have vehicles in the river." "I need ambulances as quick as you can get them here at the ramp at Webbers Falls. We got them out of the water in our boats."
A second memorial service will be held this week at the site of the bridge collapse. Some people in Webbers Falls also hope to create a permanent memorial for the 14 people who were killed.
