As the war rages on in Afghanistan to find Osama bin Laden, and his terrorist supporters, Tulsans are doing their part to help Afghan children.
The folks at Saint Simeon's Adult Day Services heard President Bush's request for American children to donate supplies to Afghan children. But the seniors wanted to help, too.
So they answered the call in their own way. Pam Paschall, St Simeon's supervisor, “We started talking about when we were youngsters and when we would get new school supplies how much fun it was that was to get new crayons and pencils and notebooks, so we decided that we would call the red cross and see if seniors could also donate a box, and that's what we did.â€
Saint Simeon's volunteers also sent along the gift of soccer balls, chalk and jump ropes for the kids' outside learning.
