Tulsa public schools have announced they are taking over the lease agreements on 10 private day care centers across the city.
This is the first time the district will take charge of the before and after child care programs. The new management begins next fall, and while the district says it will save money, others are worried about much more then dollars and cents. Karen Droms with KD Enterprises, "Some of the most atrocious after school programs in this area are run by schools."
John Hamil with Tulsa Public Schools, "We're not into this to lose money, we're into it to provide better service for the parents." Private day care operators who've lost their leases include organizations like the YMCA and St. Francis Hospital
