HEIDELBERG, Germany (AP) _ Tiger Woods parred the third sudden-death playoff hole to beat Colin Montgomerie on Monday and win the Deutsche Bank-SAP Open for the second year in a row.

The two finished tied after 72 holes at 20-under 268. Woods shot a final-round 4-under 68, while had Montgomerie a 69.

Both missed the green at the last regulation hole, and Woods needed an 8-foot par putt to force the playoff.

Woods had a chance to win on the first playoff hole but his 14-foot birdie putt lipped out. Both players parred the second playoff hole.

Woods then won with a par on the third hole after Montgomerie drove into a bunker and hit his approach into a lake.

Woods earned $410,222 dollars for his victory. Montgomerie won $273,480.

It was Woods' third win in four years in the German event. He also won in 1999 and 2001.
