(OKLAHOMA CITY) - A woman has been charged with unlawful removal of the dead after giving birth to a baby boy who bled to death.

Authorities said Tuesday that Carla Renee Quillen, 31, and her friend, Jennifer Tate, 29, are accused of taking the infant from Quillen's home April 18 and burying the baby in a shallow grave near Ada without permission from the proper authorities.

Police said the newborn was the eighth child born to Quillen. The others have been placed in the custody of the Department of Human Services.

An anonymous caller contacted paramedics and reported that a child born the previous day died at a southwest Oklahoma City residence and was dumped in a trash bin outside.

Paramedics called police, who found bloodstained items inside the trash can but not the child, police said.

Pontotoc County authorities said Quillen's boyfriend told police she took the baby to the county to bury him near her father, who died about a month ago. Quillen grew up near Ada.

Deputies and medical examiners found a small area of disturbed soil inside the cemetery on Saturday and dug up the child's remains. What caused the baby's death hasn't been determined.
