WASHINGTON (AP) _ A New York toy company is recalling about 4,600 rattle and teether rings because they can break open, releasing small beads that are a potential choking hazard for young children.
Prestige Toy Corp. has not received any reports of incidents or injuries, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.
The recalled Duckie Ring rattle/teethers have clear plastic tubes with balls inside that make a rattling sound. The rattle is attached to a yellow duck by a blue and yellow striped teether that has ``PRESTIGE'' printed on it.
The recalled combination rattle/teethers have model number 4576, 44576 or 84576 on a sewn-on label.
Stores sold the rattles from March 2002 through April 2002 for about $7.
The government said consumers should take the rattles away from children and return them to the company to receive a replacement toy or refund. For more information, consumers can call Prestige toll-free at 1-888-268-8999 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EDT Monday through Friday.
