COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) _ Matias Marin's singles victory on Saturday clinched a spot in the Big 12 Conference men's championship for top-seeded Baylor, setting up an all-Texas final.
The Bears, who are 9-0 in league play and have won 15 straight conference matches, beat Texas Tech 4-1 in the semifinals. They will face Texas A&M, which beat Texas 4-3, on Sunday for the title.
The Aggies also clinched a spot in the women's championship, where they will face Texas on Sunday. A&M beat Kansas 4-2, and Texas beat Oklahoma State 4-1.
Marin broke serve in the second set with the tiebreaker evened at 5-5 before serving out for the 6-2, 7-6 (5) victory over Michael Innerebner.
The Bears are seeking their first title, advancing to their third tournament final in the past four years.
The past five men's tournaments have been won by Texas A&M or Texas.
A&M, the third men's seed, beat second-seeded UT after losing their past two meetings with Texas. Ryan Newport sparked A&M, ending a three-match losing streak to UT's Jean Simon.
A double fault by Texas' Jose Zarhi handed the third and final set to Texas A&M's Lester Cook, clinching the Aggies' victory.
The Texas women, who have won five straight Big 12 titles, rallied from an early deficit to Oklahoma State to take the doubles point.
With doubles split 1-1, the Longhorns' No. 3 team of Rebekah Forney and Joanne Masongsong defeated OSU's Dominika Olszewska and Kate Vasylyeva, 8-6. UT dropped just a single point in singles play to advance to the finals.
The Aggies women came from behind to defeat Kansas, 4-2.
After dropping the doubles point, A&M used singles wins by Olivia Karlikova, Martina Nedorostova, Majorie Terburgh and a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory by Ashley Hedberg over KU's Aurelie Bejar to clinch the match.
