Several people took time out of their busy schedules Thursday evening to honor victim's of violent crimes.
The annual Crime Victim's remembrance day was observed Thursday at the Tulsa Courthouse plaza. News on Six reporter Craig Day says this was the 10th year for the crime victim's remembrance ceremony here in Tulsa. But it is the 22nd year for the National Crime Victim's Rights week.
Earlier in the afternoon, flowers were planted in honor of those who have been victims of violent crime. Many of their family members are gathering to bring attention to an important issue.
At Thursday’s event, law enforcement officers, city officials, people from agencies that help crime victims, and crime victims themselves spoke out, especially for the need for more laws to help victims and their families.
Oklahoma is one of 32 states that have passed constitutional amendments addressing victims' rights.
