Some Tulsa and Owasso high school students had to build a watercraft from recyclable materials.
OSU Tulsa gave them water bottles, mousetraps, paper clips and other items to build their boats. OSU professors say they hope the design-challenge will encourage the students to consider design related careers. Terry Dark/OSU-Tulsa College of Engineering: "careers that emphasize problem solving skills and teamwork and just working with other people."
The students had to make sure their boats would float so they set sail on the OSU Tulsa duck pond. And at least one team was successful at keeping its boat afloat.
