(Norman-AP) -- Oklahoma basketball player Stacy Dales and gymnast David Johnston have received Conference Medals -- the university's highest academic honor for athletes.

Dales has a 3.73 grade point average in communications. Johnston has a 3.82 average and majors in finance.

Dales and Johnston were among 288 student athletes honored.

OU Assistant Athletics Director Gerald Gurney says 64 percent of the Sooners' student athletes recorded grade point averages of at least 3.0.
